Matheus Cunha offers grounds for optimism in friendly draw with Leeds

 


Manchester United have started their run of pre-season Manchester United have started their run of pre-season friendlies with a goallesss draw with Leeds United in Sweden’s national stadium. Matheus Cunha, their £62.5m summer signing from Wolves, offered glimpses of his class in one of the twin No 10 roles but played only the first half of a match in which 47 players were used. 


Leeds had the best chance which did not come until the second half when Largie Ramazani’s right-foot shot was saved by Tom Heaton diving to his left and later Ilan Meslier denied Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven with smart saves. 


Daniel Farke’s side gave debuts to their five summer signings, including Sean Longstaff who only arrived from Newcastle on Friday afternoon, and most surprisingly gave Jack Harrison a start after two seasons away on loan at Everton.
